Bao zi, or simply, bao is the Chinese equivalent to Western bread. Bao is widely known as Chinese steamed bun and they are filled with varieties of tasty fillings, e.g. pork, chicken, red bean paste, butter, kaya, coconut, etc. Do not confuse bao with mantou, which are unfilled buns.
