Big Queue At Big Apple
Oct 22nd, 2009 by Clare
A peculiar phenomenon took place in Kuching recently and it happened at tHe Spring.
There was a promotion at Big Apple Donuts & Coffee on Saturday (17th October 2009) where 31 new flavours were introduced. It was only RM13 for a dozen of donuts when normally it costs RM2.70 per piece (don’t know about the price of a dozen though). All you had to do was to cut out a coupon from The Borneo Post and presented the coupon when paying for your donuts in order to get the RM13 per dozen deal.
We went to tHe Spring at about 11.00+ am with the intention of getting the donuts as well. But what greeted us when we approached the shop
really put us off so we went to check out the new Camry at the Toyota roadshow instead
Fat, unhealthy and immobile Kuchingites leap out of their comfortable couch, grab their car keys and family members (sometimes pets as well) and thronged the place.
Long queue blocked by credit card booth with annoying promoters!
Queue ended at the girl in black on the bottom right corner of the picture which was right in front of Ta Kiong Supermarket.
Can you imagine that?
Well, such bizarre phenomenon happened whenever and wherever cheap food is concerned. ![]()

RM2.70 can buy 27 donuts at the kampong stall here - smaller but texture nicer and richer. No toppings though - and that’s a plus point!!! Not so sweet!
Wanted to get a dozen for RM13 wan but the queue totally put us off. And even now without the queue, the price at RM2.70 per donut also put us off, no thank you! I can get a lot of the traditional ones with sugar with that kind of price.
Actually…for anything at all, if I have to queue and wait, forget it!
Same here
That’s a typical kiasu Malaysian attitude.
They’re everywhere…typical Asian
Hahaha… I was there in the line and I’m in your photo ;p The second photo. Queued for 2 hours hehehe… I was there at 10am and the queue was already near Ta Kiong entrance. Let’s just say I “jiak ba bo su choo” so went to join the craze ;p
