Belacan Bihun Buffet
Apr 25th, 2009 by Clare
Previously it was Laksa Buffet. This time, it was Belacan Bihun Buffet. Just so that people don’t ask the same question, this was homecooked. You cannot find it anywhere at your regular kopitiam.
I have a love-hate affair with belacan bihun. I hate it.
Some people love this to its last drop.
Anyway, I had this for dinner one night. The preparation was quite easy.
Some hard-boiled eggs (or you can use century eggs to substitute this)
Bean sprouts or fondly known as taugeh, boiled
Strips of cucumber
Some sotong, boiled
Bihun, cooked
Since this is buffet-style belacan bihun, dump all of the above into a bowl and pour some pre-cooked belacan gravy into them and *tada*
Ready-to-eat
It was nice and all (maybe because I was hungry) but I still hate it. However, I won’t die eating. So it’s okay once in a while. Hahahaha!!!

Pre-cooked brlacn gravy!!! Tapau?..and if cook ..HOW?
Sendiri masak wan. No tapao.
…but what’s the ingredients… you didn’t teach
Chili, belacan, dried shrimp, errr……..I don’t really know but I can taste the said 3 ingredients only
Paiseh! I only know how to eat
Hehehehe!!!
I didn’t like the look of it…that day at Lumba Kuda where you had a kantong to suck! LOL!!
Oh well…*Susan Boyle, Susan Boyle, Susan Boyle…* Hahahaha!!!
I didn’t like the look of it…that day at Lumba Kuda where you had a kantong to suck! LOL!! Wah! Kpenyu dropped by here twice - and didn;t even come to my blog today! Somebody sombong liao!!!
EH? Penyu didn’t swim over to your shore kah? That’s weird.
Oops! Hahahahaha!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I really want to try and cook the gravy …I am sure you can find out la ….and share the recipe. Deal????
Here’s what I found after I consulted my best friend, Google. (Oh, you won’t like him, he didn’t charge me consultation fee
)
For the gravy,
1. boil some water
2. dump in belacan cube or paste into boiling water
3. add chili
4. add sugar, salt and MSG to taste
5. add starch if you want the gravy to be sticky.
The next instruction said to sieve the gravy but I don’t find it necessary. You can squeeze some lime/calamansi juice if you like.
Thanks …Huh..no bawang or serai ka…aahhhhhhh…..fainted liaw.
Not everything also got bawang and serai wan mah. Not asam pedas wei…
Basically I dun eat anything cooked with belacan.
Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Then you must have missed out a lot of good food! Heheheh!
feels like a healthy meal to me (not much OIL)
Got to try it some day..
