Lights Off, Mandi Kerbau And American Idol
Mar 27th, 2009 by Clare
Prologue (LOL!): I forgot I did not post yesterday
There was a really good excuse to that but no excuse is a good excuse so I’ll save you the agony of having to read a good excuse that is no excuse for my regulars. Uhm…that was a long sentence…what did I just say? Never mind.
Remember I blogged about Earth Hour 2 posts ago?

That day also I read in The Star that an idiot wrote in to complain about the Earth Hour being a publicity stunt and such. Come on! The Earth Hour campaign is not meant for you to switch off the light TO SAVE THE EARTH for an hour!!! Don’t lah go and write a complain letter without understanding the core purpose of the whole thing! How can you save the earth by just turning off your lights and non-essential electrical appliances? The turbines that generate electricity are still operating and contribute to global warming! (That’s what I thought but apparently when you turn off your lights and electrical appliances, less green house gases will be emitted into the atmosphere) WWF goal is emphasized on branding and CREATE AWARENESS so that you don’t have to eat your ice-cream quickly! (the ice-cream part I steal from Adrian
) *cue to sing “Heal the world…make it a better place…for you and for me and the entire human race…there are people dying…if you care enough for a living…make a better place for you and for me”*
Err…actually, that’s not what I want to blog about today. But yesterday I forgot to blog so have to cram everything I want to talk about in this post.
The title of the post, mandi kerbau, is something like a proverb (simpulan bahasa) in Malay language which means taking ineffective bath or shower, derived from the observation that buffaloes bathe in dirty water, or rather, mud.
Mandi = to bathe or shower
Kerbau = buffalo
Okay, okay, I’m getting to what I want to talk about. Bear with this for a while lah! Teacher said, write essay must have introduction, body and conclusion. So that was an introduction lor.
Anyway, do you shower before going to bed? I know a lot of people shower or bathe after they wake up in the morning before going to school/work. Uhm…I don’t normally shower before going to bed because I bathe after dinner already, which is like 3-4 hours before bedtime unless it was really warm. Save water mah!
I don’t shower after I wake up because it is rush hour madness when I normally wake up…late! Besides, the water is too chilly in the morning. That’s the whole purpose, you might say. But no thanks I don’t want to be perk up that way. However, if there is a water heater, I’ll take bath after I wake up, like what I normally do back in Sibu.
If I were to shower in the morning it would be a quickie, without washing my hair. I wash my hair in the evening. This might sound weird for some of you but I wash my hair everyday despite its waist-length
I busted the myth that says washing hair every day dries it out. Eh, sidetracked again!
Back to the media, do you shower before going to bed?
Save the cheerleader, save the world!
Post Script: My take on American Idol last night…The theme was Motown. Adam Lambert sang The Tracks of My Tears real good! Not emo constipated gothic like usual. He looked like Elvis. Finally I can see his forehead. Hahaha! Megan Joy sang For Once In My Life. She’s got the look and dressed prettily but I don’t like her choice of song. Like Kara said, My Guy would be more Megan. Anoop “Dog” Desai sang Ooo Baby Baby really good too! But the eyebrows, eewww!!! Lil Rounds sang (Love Is Like A) Heat Wave really good because she has a powerful and good voice but her choice of song did not emphasize and bring out her strong voice. Still love her though. Matt Giraud sang Let’s Get It On, good move on coming out from behind the piano and sing. He’s worth the mention this week. Allison Iraheta sang Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone and nailed it big time! She’s my favourite this week, for the female category. Did you say she’s only 16?
Scott MacIntyre did a faster number this week singing You Can’t Hurry Love, still behind the piano, but better than his usual style. While the rest of the
crewcontestants are not worth mentioning because they did not leave an impact and they are easily forgotten![]()
UPDATE: Michael Sarver has been eliminated! Who is he again?

Post Script 2: YAY!!! It’s Friday!!!

Friday at last!
i only shower once a day…
evening time to avoid crowd…
since i won’t be sweating muchy at night…so no, i won’t shower before going to bed
ha ha ha .. true anot? you got mandi pagi anot? :p
If got water heater I mandi, if not no mandi, sejuk gilak!
I suppose the hour is just to raise awareness…and we’re supposed to go on from there. Switch off the lights (fans etc…) when no one’s in the room or when it is bright enough, walk instead of using the lift (Esp going up one or two floors!!! Duh!!!) or the car, turn off the aircon on rainy days etc etc etc… So many things everyone can do!
Yeah. It is to raise awareness but a lot of people were complaining about it because they thought switching off the lights for one hour can save the world. Sigh…some people, really. So after the Earth Hour when people are more aware of the environment, we can continue like what you said lor.
yup. some people just a plain ass when it comes to things like this. of course some people benefited from it la, of course they’re money to be made. eventhough maybe, just maybe ah .. the main reason is for money but still it’s throwing 2 birds with one stone. nothing wrong with making money and create awareness at the same time? what’s the big fuss all about??
I don’t know, man! Oh well, there are more stupid people than smart people in the world so you know lah which species like to oppose to anything at all.
they saved the best for last this week on AI — Adam, Danny and Allison, all in a row
Yeah, and they didn’t disappoint
Mandi kerbau for me specifically refer to volcanic mud bath in Kpenyu or Pulau tiga. Do you watch Channel 301? I was told the mud pool was featured in one of their programmes last week…that young chinese man travelling around Malaysia…ah boy I think.
Oh, I never knew there’s such program. But I’ve heard of volcanic mud bath some time ago though.
Of coz switching off for just 1 hour doesn’t do anything great, but it is the awareness that we want to create!
Correct correct correct
Heheeheheh!
