What I’ve Been Looking For
Sep 26th, 2008 by Clare
So my uncle called yesterday and ajak-ed me to go to the Ramadhan Bazaar again! Looking at the time, it was right before the after-office-hour crowd flocked the place so I agreed. After I hung up, I realized that it was a mistake as the sun was shining so brightly and it was scorching hot to even go outside.
But when we reached the bazaar, dark clouds had started to cover the sky over the town. I bought nasi briyani during my previous visit and it was good (but not the best I’ve eaten) so I recommended the dish to my uncle.
Apart from nasi briyani, nasi kurma and nasi tomato are also available.
The chicken curry to be eaten together with the nasi briyani.
The murtabak, which are not that delicious because of the thick skin and little meat inside. The murtabak that I’ve eaten in West Malaysia are much more impressive. Ah, never mind.
Nasi campur - nothing is not spicy here but they sure look appetizing
Kebab man from Kebab Mann (pun not intended), slicing chicken and beef off the what-do-you-call-that thing to prepare a kebab that I had just ordered.
Sambal petai sold at a grilled fish stall where I bought a huge piece of grilled stingray
It was okay but the fish is slightly overcooked and not that fresh. Maybe that’s why they covered the fish with lots of sambal belacan paste.
My uncle loves the pulut panggang from this particular stall. We bought it fresh from the grill. They are really nice.
Well, that concludes my visit to the Ramadhan bazaar, I think, because Raya is coming and there will not be any Ramadhan bazaar after that. I couldn’t find what I’ve been looking for so let’s just leave it at that. Can’t wait till next year!
By the way, Alvin had blogged about his second visit to the famous Ramadhan bazaar at Satok, Kuching and this time, he included a lot of colourful pictures of yummylicious FOOD being sold there, most of them not available/found in Sibu, e.g. Sup Power (I want some!) ![]()

Went TWO times liao…not even one time tapao sumting for me! No friend u liao like dat!!!
I thought of getting something for you but each time I went there was your tuition days, so cannot send directly to you also what. Hahhaha! Don’t like that…
Ooi!…Sup Power originated in Sibu lah!!! Was on TV…that time Merdeka celebration in Sibu when the Agong came and when he went back, he died! You go to the taman selera behind the Land & Survey building…I think they should have it there - last time, the stalls in Kpg Datu.
I know lah! What I meant was Sup Power is not available at the bazaar in Sibu. I’ve had the one at Taman Selera Harmoni (a lot of times!) and loved it! Must go and do review one of these days but schedule too packed lah!
Clareeeeeee….. those food.. yummm… *drools*
