Tune Hotels

Like Air Asia, Tune Hotels also adapted the no-frills model and a demand-based online booking system. Similar to the low cost airlines, the earlier you book, the less you pay.
In my humble opinion, I think Tune Hotels is a very good business concept. Located at Downtown KL, right in the middle of all the convenience, i.e. food, shopping, public transport, etc. Tune Hotels is a strategic location to begin with.
Second of all, we are all hoping to stay in a good hotel with cheap price, aren’t we? But they say, “good thing no cheap, cheap thing no good”!
Seriously, when we are traveling, we only really need a place to shower and a bed to have a good night’s rest. But we are always paying extra for things/services we do not need, i.e. swimming pool, meeting room, gym, spa, sauna, etc. At Tune Hotels, it is affordable (read as CHEAP, say RM50 per night), clean and safe.
Like the airlines, everything is pre-booked and pre-paid through their website. When you get there, all you have to do is to present your booking printout at the reception counter to check in and get your room key card.
We had a double room for the first two nights.

And a single room for the last two nights due to late booking. If you intend to stay here, please book early because cramping onto a single bed is not fun!

Tune Hotels takes pride in their beds. From their website, I quote, “5-star sleeping experience at a 1-star price”
The door on the right leads to the bathroom
The rooms are seriously small, that you have to enter the room in single file, or you’ll get stuck! *imagining Suituapui entering the room and got stuck at the door* LOL!
WAH! So nice! Got plasma TV summore! So high-tech, hidden in a cupboard-like thing! Oh boy, was I so wrong!
When I twist the knob on the top right corner, the cupboard-like thingy fell open and *tada* a makeshift table!
For reasons unknown, Tune Hotels like to put mirrors at almost everywhere. You turn around, you caught yourself staring back. You turn to the other side, you caught yourself staring back again. Creepy! (Pardon me, I just watched the horror movie “Mirrors” when I was there so I was a bit paranoid that my image would stay when I move away from the mirror
)
The mirror right beside the bed.
The light from the bathroom gave the fluorescent pink frame of the mirror when you turn off the light. I have no idea what is it for. But why so many mirrors? Lilian Too said mirrors in the bedroom signifies infidelity. *ponders*
The thing I like about Tune Hotels is the lift, or rather what’s in it
The notice says: Consuming Mister Potato poster is strictly prohibited. Guests are requested to purchase Mister Potato from the convenience store.
Catchy, isn’t it?
Tune Hotels is good for budget travelers who do not wish to share bathrooms/toilets/rooms with strangers. Only really basic necessities are provided here. There is no bath towels or toiletries provided. You have to pay extra for them. Same goes to air-conditioning and room WIFI. (We paid for 12 hours credit worth of air-conditioning everyday) This is a no-frills hotel system, what do you expect? Before you start booking and complain later, make sure you read properly about the facilities that are provided or not in their website first.
I find this concept not too bad. I get to sleep and shower at the same time save a lot of money on accommodation. I have no complain, except that the housekeeping service was very late.

Now, now, stop eating the poster already!
i’m around here too clare… what were u doing in kl???
What? Neh, read my previous two posts.
I can’t understand. Consuming is prohibited, so why should we go and buy at the convenience store? We bring that back to the hotel and then we can’t consume! Ask Tony Fernandez…and see if he can explain or not!!
Its “consuming the poster” that is prohibited
I heard it was a hospital before. Sentosa Hospital.
STP: Its an advert gimmick and it said “consuming the POSTER is prohibited”. No offence. Just pointing out. Cheers.
Are you serious? Hospital that small?
I actually just came back from KL staying in Tune Hotel too. Ya, you are right! There are mirrors virtually every corner, even there are already 3 in the bathroom itself. BTW, I had transferred my blog to this new domain, http://lifeislikethat.com. Please add the new link to your blogroll if had added me previously. My new feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/lifeislikethat/AHNd. Thanks.
No wonder you’ve not been around lately. Thought you MIA liao.
Hey, even the entire hotel facade looks like a giant billboard. The advertising concept is great though, keeps costs down. Tony is brilliant in that sense. But I heard you actually need to pay for airconditioning (Charged by the hour with a prepaid keycard) if you want it. Is it true?
RM50/nite, hmmm… around AUD18. Standard price for backpackers, slightly cheaper than here though. Ah, not too bad.. Hehe, thanks for the review Clare, will check this Tune Hotel out. Whr about exactly is this hotel in KL?
You’re welcome
This hotel is located at Downtown KL, near Asian Heritage Row. Accessible by Monorail. KL Tower, KLCC and Bukit Bintang are also around the corner.
Anne: Get down at the Medan Tuanku monorail station and you’ll see it. Cheers.
