The Clorets’ Amateur Pole Dance Competition was launched to promote its latest mint, intriguingly named Dark Secret. I first saw the advertisement on my blog (and a lot of other blogs for that matter) banner because the sound of shaken Clorets mints caught my attention. I have always been amused by pole dancers but it never crossed my mind that I would touch a pole dancing pole in my entire life!

Therefore, when I received an invitation from Nuffnang to attend the Clorets Amateur Pole Dancing Finalists Presentation Programme at Celebrity Fitness in Bangsar Village, I jumped at the opportunity This is what I call the when-opportunity-knocks-on-the-door moment (TM). I got to bring a guest

In this competition, two famous people will appear as guest celebrities and they don’t just APPEAR like that.

They are to perform a pole dance routine during the competition.

Celebrities aside, in a competition, there must be contestants and in this competition, we have 15 finalists

Oh yes, guys pole dance too!

Look Ma, no legs!!!

The sight of a woman clinging onto an erect pole is sensual and suggestive but if replace the lady with a guy, it may give a sense of something else and I suggest you run to the toilet to throw up!

Being one of the two male pole dancer in the competition, this guy has his own move. Contrary to popular belief, these guys who pole dance do not appear sissy at all!

They look masculine and I was mesmerized by their sexy moves! Male pole dancers are sizzling HOT!!!

Here’s the bonus feature: Pair pole dancing. Girl-on-girl. Whatever you’d like to call them

There is a pair of girls doing the double pole dancing as a team (I don’t know the exact term) so let your imaginations run wild with the vision of two girls clinging onto an erect pole

Look Ma, no hands!!!

This is Lola, the pole dancing instructor. She is graceful, she is strong and her moves are able to make you wet your pants! She dances as if the pole is one of her body parts (not the way you imagined it!). Having long, curly hair is an advantage to women as long, waist-length hair flailing wildly is very appealing.

After the presentation of the finalists, we have Media Pole Dance Workshop which was opened to whoever that is interested to try their hands (or legs) on pole dancing. In true Clare Ng style, of course I signed up for it! (I was grouped together with 4 other bloggers! YAY!)

Gravity is my biggest enemy!

An attempt to swing gracefully around the pole which appeared stiff. LOL!

But I landed in one piece on the floor!

We’re given a Certificate of Participation for our attempt

After trying my hands (and legs) on pole dancing, I would like to say that it was fun! Stereotypically, pole dancing has been associated with sleazy, seedy sex joints in strip bars but it is a very challenging exercise. I am all for pole dancing, in a positive way!
