Rumours Spark Petrol Panic In Sarawak
Jun 25th, 2008 by Clare
It was in the news (Chinese daily) a few days ago. And a few hours ago, people, or rather, cars were flocking petrol stations in town to fill up their tanks before the petrol station operators go on strike on the 26th.
Passing by Tabuan area, I saw massive jam at the Petronas. OMG! These people are so kiasu! An hour later, I got a call from home reporting the same situation in Sibu. Why so kiasi?! Apparently, according to a petrol station operator in Sibu, there will be a strike on the 26th if they have decided to but if there is no decision on the strike, the petrol stations shall remain open.
What is the point if you really go on strike? You want higher commission, we know, but do you think the government cares? In the end, you have no business, we are upset, everyone is not happy. And you think the government cares?
Do you remember that there was this time when the government wants petrol stations to operate 24 hours? What happened when petrol station operators refused to do so? Let me remind you if you have the easy-to-forget syndrome. The government threatened to revoke their license if they did not operate for 24 hours. In the end, they had no choice but to obey!
See? Same thing will happen. Only this time, the government might threaten to revoke your license if you join the strike. So what’s the point? You are only wasting everyone’s time.
The other day I was passing by this government building at Simpang Tiga, there was a protest by DAP. A group of people wearing either white shirt or white shirt with the famous rocket logo, carrying flags, banners and cardboard with messages assembled at the roundabout. The only message I saw was “BN=Barang Naik“. And of all the places in Kuching, that was the busiest place during peak hours. Motorists slowed down to kay poh (busybody) and hence hogged the traffic. What is the point? You think the government cares?
If you don’t like the price hike so much, then you should ram into the wall for voting those donkeys into the Parliament in the first place! If you have so much complain and facing so much hardship due to the price increase, VOTE THEM OUT!!! Going on strike has no advantage at all. So kiasi vote them in a few months ago for what? In the end, you are the ones who suffer! Serve you right!

I heard bout the strike at Simpang Tiga but was not able to go snap some pics *LOL* and and… I didn’t go pump petrol last night. I think they still operate today gua..
Yes, they still operate today. I guess people wanted to escape the possible jam tonight so they pumped earlier. Who knows great minds think alike, fools barely differ
LOL!
I took some photos! Will post! Lesson to learn: Don’t believe everything you hear!
Nice! I didn’t manage to. Left my ‘equipment’ at home
LOL!
People here rushed to petrol station like no tomorrow one! I wanted to take photos on my way home last night, too bad I left my camera at home!
Your handphone got no photo-taking device (like how Suituapui puts it) meh?
I wanted to take a photo too but I was too tired to do that when I got back from work last night. Besides, I didn’t want to get stuck in the queue which stretched to the main roads…
I thought you’d do that lor being a typically kiasu blogger and all, you know. LOL!
the people have been stupified by these smses. God! How could they … it’s ok. At least Sarawak and Sabah are in the headlines again - for the wrong reason of being Kiasu
ha ha ha, heng…. bo kena pien…
