The world of matrimony is divided into two categories: the hen-pecked husband and the cock-pecked wife.

Everyone knows what does it mean by hen-pecked husband. But cock-pecked wife? Literally means the same thing as hen-pecked husband but instead of the husband, the wife is the victim here. However, cock-pecked wife can have a double meaning - the opposite - if you look close enough. LOL!!!

Speaking of which reminds me of a story told to me by a really close friend of mine. But before that, there are of course some warning and disclaimer. The purpose of the story is to illustrate what really happened to the henpecked husband community. This story has nothing to do with the dead henpecked husband or the alive ones who wished to die and being roasted to crispy.

Once upon a time, there lived a man called Mr. Bombastic in a small town. He was married to a queen control and they had a son called Kenny. As the age difference between Mr. Bombastic and his wife is quite huge, they couldn’t have anymore kids. Of course they tried! Therefore, Kenny was the apple of their eyes. They even sent Kenny to the best (read: high class) private kindergarten in town in the hope of giving the best education for their only son. All the subjects were taught in English except for Mandarin and Malay Language.

Well, being the only child, Kenny was spoiled to rotten, of course. He received a wonderful gift for his birthday and couldn’t wait to bring it to school to show it off to his friends. Therefore, he brought the toy to school the next day. And teacher always says cannot bring toys to school, right or not? The toys will be confiscated if the teacher find out, right or not?

And Kenny’s toy were confiscated. He was not happy about it and was whinny the whole day. He was scolded for being whinny and distracting his classmates. He wasn’t happy and when he got home, he related the incident to his mother.

Being the woman that she was, Mrs Bombastic stormed to Kenny’s kindergarten the next day. Without asking for explanation from the staff of the school, Mrs Bombastic launched a huge complaint to the headmistress of the school. Ms Headmistress was shocked at the sudden outburst. Mr Bombastic was with them the whole time but did not dare to say anything. Calmly, she explained to Mrs Bombastic what actually happened and that they have to abide by the rules and regulations.

Even so, Mrs Bombastic was still unhappy and threatened to pull Kenny out from the kindergarten, out of embarrassment and ego to save her face. So the drama ended here.

The next day, Mr Bombastic sent Kenny to school. He got down from the car and went to see Ms Headmistress. Being a nice guy he was, Mr Bombastic apologized profusely on his wife’s behaviour the day before, saying that Mrs Bombastic was like that by nature and begged Ms Headmistress not to take her words seriously because she did not mean it and all that stuff. Of course, Ms Headmistress understood and did not make a big deal out of it. All was well and they lived happily ever after.

The ‘lived happily ever after’ part was supposed to be there because most stories end with that, no? Well, anyway, what if, one day you are going to be a henpecked husband? Or what will you do if you happened to marry a queen control? For girls, what IF your husband/future husband/boyfriend goes “Yes, dear!” all the time? Or you becoming the cock-pecked wife? Think about it.
