When We Were Growing Up (Part 1)
Nov 1st, 2007 by Clare
Being born in 1985, I am considered the 80s’ baby. All the 80s’ Babies, please hands up! Can you remember how you grew up? What were the TV Shows that you liked to watch?
I remembered not-so-clearly that I grew up watching Baja Hitam - some Japanese black-suit guy that had a housefly for his head.

And then there were this cartoon that we grew up watching - small, blue and live in mushrooms…

The ol’ Smurfs!
Apart from the two nostalgic cartoons that I’ve mentioned, we also grew up watching:
Thundercats
“Thundercats, Ho!!!”
He-Man and The Masters of the Universe

Transformers

Woody Woodpecker
…and his mischiefs and not forgetting his signature laughter as he pops around odd places!
Alvin and the Chipmunks

They are so cute! Can’t wait for the movie to be released.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I even owned a Raphael figurine, a Ninja Turtle bowl, a Ninja Turtle Mug, a Ninja Turtle Plate and a pair of Ninja Turtle pajamas! 0.o!!!
Ultraman

I did notice that the buildings and the suit looked so fake back then but still watched the show though.
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers

This is the original Power Rangers. My cousin, my brother and I each bought a Power Rangers mask and started a mock fight against the bad guys which happened to be the Barbie Dolls’ Collection and soft toys belonging to another cousin! Wuahahahahha!!!
Not forgetting also the Mickey Mouse, Mask, Voltron, Bugs Bunny and McGyver.
Last but not least, Speedy Gonzalez the mice!
“Ariba! Ariba! Andale! Andale!”
What else did I miss out? No, Pokemon and Digimon had not existed yet back then. Doraemon was there when I was in primary school liao. ![]()

*hands up!*
Ooo… My fave is Alvin and the Chipmunks!! There’s a movie coming out?
Erm… do you remember this fat orange cat named Heathcliff? I used to watch it a lot!! This might help jog your memory

You dun watch ‘bi bi’? The wolf keep chasing after a some sort like bird and keep bumping into traps, rocks and trains.
Oh, that one. It’s called the Road Runner and the Coyote or something…Yeah, that too!

No lor…Growing sideways liao! Muahahaha!!!
Wooo…. those were the days.

That was what I used to imitate also.

Anyway, do you still rmbr Mighty Mouse? It always reminds me of Superman. Haha.
Yes! Mighty Mouse and Friends. The Ariba mouse cartoon existed for a few years during its zaman kegemilangan only. Then no more. No wonder your sister didn’t know
