Kuching: Kolo Mee
Oct 30th, 2007 by Clare
Kolo Mee and Kampua Mee are similar in a lot of ways but both have their unique taste that differentiate themselves from each other. For those who does not have enough tastebuds, they will say both taste the same.
They do to a certain extent. Kolo Mee is different from Kampua Mee in a few aspects. The best are still those in Kuching. The noodles used is no different from Kampua except that the noodle used to make Kolo Mee usually curlier and slimmer.
I’ve taken kolo mee everyday - breakfast and supper - for the past week when I was in Kuching but I am not complaining. I’ve tried Kolo Mee in Sekama, Big Potato, 668, Siang Siang, Expert, Tabuan Market, 10th Mile, where else ar?
I love Kolo Mee with cha sio yiu (oil from roasted pork) and that’s what makes the noodle reddish. I love the chilli they served with Kolo Mee - cili potong soaked in vinegar. Take a slice of chilli with a mouthful of the noodles. The sourish from the vinegar + little tingling hotness from chilli + saltiness of the noodle + sweetness from the cha sio yiu exploded in your mouth…Mmmmmm!!! Heavenly! That is how I eat my Kolo Mee
I had the same thing for supper every night and hence the weight gained *pinch the fatty around my tummy* I am missing Kolo Mee already now that I am back to Sibu!
Oh man! I’ve been Kuching-ized!
PS: This blog will be named Kolo Mee Talk instead of Kampua Talk if I am from Kuching ![]()
