I just landed in Kampua-land a few hours ago from Kuching. I boarded the Fokker 50 of MasWings which was delayed for 35 minutes due to some technical problems.
Pardon the quality of the photo, I was walking while taking the picture.
It was my first time flying with MasWings ever since it’s launching a few months back. I remember boarding a Fokker plane a decade ago and that was it. A fokker plane is very small and can only carry 50+ passengers. My flight just now was not full - 12 passengers only. I thought I boarded the wrong plane because I’ve seen MasWings plane which looks something like this:
They have not painted the one that I boarded yet. The green symbol on the tail of the fokker plane looks like Midin! Yummy! Fokker 50 is seriously small that it uses propellers to carry itself up into the atmosphere, unlike the Boeings. Inside the plane, ach side of the aisle can only occupy 2 passengers.
13 rows altogether and the toilet is located at the front of the plane. MasWings is just a new name, but the planes they use are not new. The seats are worn out, the windows are full of scratches, some of the ‘No Smoking’ signs are not lighting up, etc that I was scared the plane was going to crash when it took off unstably. *wipes sweat*
If you expect the same blue kebaya-ed stewardess for MasWings, you are wrong. Only the chief cabin crew is clad in the typical tight blue kebaya while the ka kia rest of the cabin crews wear green top dotted with tiny black flowers and black pants. They look like cleaners/housekeeper from some hotels. No ogling session in MasWings because well, there is nothing to be ogled. LOL!
Fly with Air Asia if you want to ogle at those black stocking-ed long legs in tight red minis and equally tight tops. Seriously! (No, Air Asia did not pay me to write this!)
Anyway, the cool thing about MasWings is that the service is good. The cabin crew (there was only one I saw and the chief) was so polite and gentle. During that short flight, we were served this:
No salted peanuts. Only a packet of Milo. I like. Better than the over-sweet orange juice lah.
Not long after I finished the Milo, came the anouncement: “We will be landing shortly. Please put back your seat in the upright position bla bla bla…” before another announcement shortly after that from the pilot: “Cabin crews please be seated for landing”
It took only about 30-35 minutes to fly from Kuching to Sibu. Meanwhile, it takes 6-7 hours to drive from Kuching to Sibu.
Planes do wonders, huh? Amazing! ![]()

omg, fokkers! they shouldnt be in operation anymore. theyve been around for decades!! summore earlier on got technical problem ?? if i were you id be scared to board…. btw, didnt the airport ground crew stop you frm taking those pictures ? i once tried to take a picture and one of them shouted at me like its such a big deal..
I was scared shitless when the plane was shaking so badly during take off and landing. I took fast picture and quickly shoved my camera into my bag, no one shouted at me…hehehe!
How is it compared to AirAsia (FAX)?
jam, MASWings is a wholely owned subsidiary of MAS. MAS Fokker 50s were first leased over to FAX and later taken back by MAS. MAS now uses its fleet of Fokker 50s for its MASWings subsidiary to serve the local Sarawak?Sabah routes. So the Fokker 50s are really the same aircraft.
for good? u mean u finished ur study ady? clap clap. congtratz then. ganbatte neh. hinehja fighting!! fighting!!
Did I say that?
How the feeling if compare with Air Asia ? Sure is the quite interesting experience with MAS Wings ya..

You are welcome!
Guys the Fokker 50’s are great aircraft you can beat them up and through them around as much as you want without them breaking. They’re great little work horses so dont worry about them crashing! lol
