I Don’t Understand
Oct 12th, 2007 by Clare
- Do you still remember the fatal bus accident that killed 22 people in Perak a few months ago?
- Do you remember that there were a few consecutive bus accidents that followed after that?
- How many of you have traveled by bus (long distance bus, in this context) in West Malaysia?
- How many of you are actually aware that the bus that you are traveling in is speeding on the highway?
- How many of you get white knuckles holding to your seats for dear lives every time you traveled by bus?
- How many are literally in a kingdom far far away (dreamland), not aware of their surroundings throughout the whole journey?
- Why does it always take a huge loss for us to realize something?
- Why does our government only act after catastrophic losses occur?
- Why innocent lives must be sacrificed to make us aware?
- Why the authority does not take measures to curb an accident or loss before it happen?
- Why put JPJ officers in every bus terminal when other loss control measures can be taken?
- Are the JPJ officers able to prevent catastrophic losses from occurring DURING the journey?
- If yes, how? By checking on the drivers and the buses only?
- What if the drivers felt sleepy halfway through the journey?
- How did they know if the buses that they’ve checked will not speed during the journey?
- How can they go ALL OUT (like the authority likes to put it) to check on every bus in every bus terminal AND during the entire journey?
- Why can’t the authority come up with other alternatives?
- Why can’t they think out of the box for ONCE?
- Do we need more disastrous events to initiate other measures?
- Do we need more innocent lives sacrificed?
- How come they can spend millions on white elephant and yet cannot invest a part of the millions wasted in loss control measures?
- Why didn’t the government enforced laws to make it compulsory for bus companies to practice risk management?
Having to much time in hand, these are the random thoughts that I had thought about. That includes the solution to the questions above. No shitty business this time. I will post about the said solution in my next post. Let me restructure and arrange my point first. Stay tuned!
