Sidenote:
- Don’t blardy ask me if I got Facebook. I DON’T! And I do not intend to sign up for it. Thank you very much! Just don’t send anymore invitation and flood my inbox. So irritating I am tempted to buy a gun and shoot those who did that.
- If you want to zh’ng your car with HID Xenon headlights or just love the lights and scared of some stupid fella up there who once said they wanted to ban it, you have to READ THIS. Then hor, go ahead and zh’ng your car!

How misleading the information in the travel brochure can be! The Tourism Board put pictures of old Iban guys and girls in their traditional costumes living in long houses by the Rejang River in the jungle and people who read the brochures have the perception that Sarawakians live in the jungle, up on trees, hunt for food and wear ala-Tarzan costumes.
In one of my previous posts, I mentioned about stupid questions that people asked and is still asking about Sarawak. Don’t hold your breath because they are pretty much what we are facing every time we tell people that we are from Sarawak. After getting used to their ignorance, I played along most of the times
Well, we have what they do NOT:
- Sarawak is the LARGEST state in Malaysia. The land mass itself is bigger than the whole of West Malaysia.
- We have the second largest international airport in Malaysia while others might not even have any. We have FIVE major airports while others might not even have ONE!
- We are one of the largest petroleum source in Malaysia.
- We have TWO official cities, Kuching and Miri, and soon Sibu, while other states might only have A town.
- We are still the main reason why tourists come to Malaysia, for our Mulu Caves. The caves in West Malaysia that I had been to are not as challenging as the ones we have in Sarawak.
- Two out of the popular singers based in Taiwan are from Sarawak, Nicholas Teo and Lim Yu Zhong (not to mention Jason Lo from hitz.fm)
- The most air travelers in Malaysia are from Sarawak. Almost all Sarawakians have at least traveled once or twice with airplane compared to the West Malaysians.
- We have our own daily newspaper: The Borneo Post, International Times, etc
- We live in harmony, not just with Malay, Chinese and some Indians but also with Iban, Melanau, Bidayuh, Kelabit, Kenyah, Penan, Punan, Sungai, Lunbawang, etc. Well, I have 2 Iban, 1 Melanau and 1 Malay closest friends that I’ve known ever since primary school to prove that. The term “Sarawak truly Asia” is more like it.
- First ‘Amazing Race’ ever was held in Kuching, Sarawak.
- Most of us Sarawakians speak at least 4 different languages. Well, in my case, I speak and understand 8 different languages and dialects namely Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Iban, Hokkien, Foochow, Cantonese and a little Hakka.
- MAS CEO is from Sarawak, Sin Chew daily (the biggest newspaper company in Malaysia) news’ founder is also from Sarawak.
- We are one of the states with the largest and thickest jungle which produces valuable wood, while some other states are already BOTAK.
- Our air and water is among the cleanest in Malaysia, and we do not even need any water or air purifier.
- Sarawak has houses way bigger than houses in West Malaysia. We do not live in condominiums because they are so small and uncomfortable. We live in big, detach or semi-detach houses.
- We speak better English than most people in Malaysia.
I am so proud to be a Sarawakian!!! ![]()

i think i posted this b4 u.. ha ha, anyway, the first fact not really true, it’s a little smaller than westM, hopefully sibu won’t be a city, i love cheap food, once it become a city.. no more cheap foods!!!
Yeah, you probably had. But nobody noticed. The first point I got that from somewhere, not entirely my say. It says the MASS, not size if that’s what you are talking about.
ooh la la~lets go rub those points on the west malaysians!
Yeah!
Haha.. nice! I think its Eastern Times, not International, right?
Oh yeah! Sorry dude, it’s been long time since I go back to Sibu…
Clement: Don’t worry, Sibu to become a city still a dream ahead. Relax for the cheap food, I like cheap food also, at least I’m full all the time
Wei… Sarawak also got an international airport le… Of course Sarawak rich la, last time report a profit of don’t know how many billion, the largest amount in all states in Malaysia.
Oh, and hor, Sarawak is the only state that does not owe the govt unlike other state.
Relax lah. Ppl thought sarawakians serve kampua in coconut shell. Actually in remote controllable flying-plate? Whoa!
No lor! We used programmed robots to serve them…
Haha.. know more on sarawak.. I went there once for trip with friends.
Great!
U forgot to mention that road usage is still toll free! Road sign still got chinese word! Pork dishes can be found everywhere! Anythings else ?? Have a nice day!
Oh yeah! Those too. Thanks for reminding!
Errr…. All the while I taught Sarawak is a country! No mer? Wakaka….
I thought so also until I found out the truth…too bad!
Agree with all of the above except two:
1) Sibu is still very much long way away to be declared as city, thanks to our fucking 30-million bungalow owner.
2) Rejang river should be declared as the longest and muddiest river in Sarawak. I dare not to drink water without purifying just like that.
I see…
one thing that is sad about sarawak is that we dont have what u had as your previous post..
haha, true2. I sokong you… hehe. *gotta learn more about eng*
