Summer Holiday: Redang Island
Jul 3rd, 2007 by Clare
I’ve watched almost all the movies that is currently showing in the cinemas but I will not do anymore movie reviews even though spoilers are fun. My number of readers will be reduced if I do that all the time. Anyway, I don’t mind watching Transformers for the second time.
Warning: A lot of pictures ahead. Proceed at your own risk.

Went to Redang Island for our dream vacation with my friends. L-R: Belinda, Elaine and yours truly
We (Belinda and I) vowed to come here for our vacation after watching the movie Summer Holiday starring Richie Ren and Sammi Cheng in 1999. We finally made it after so many years
This is a place for relaxation. A place where you can be one with Mother Nature. Not to mention a place to oggle at hot chicks and hunks.
One can never explain the wonder of Mother Nature. This is a place called the Blue Sand, located near Laguna Resort.
As the name indicated, this place really has blue sand. According to one of our tour guides, the blue sand can only be seen at night. If you are lucky, you can see them after digging the shore with your feet. I guess we were not that lucky that night.
We strolled along the beach to see how the night life is on the island. There are a lot of cafes along the beach with band and music. But this particular stage caught our attention. I think it’s a BEACH PARTY!
There were hot chicks dancing on the stage to the rythm of hot music, perfect lighting, open air, there were liquor, etc. The DJ has sense of humor:
Song: WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!?!!
DJ: HOU LENG GEH ZHO SAU!!! (means beautiful left hand in Cantonese)
Our group of more than 10 people (beside 3 of us, they are friends of Belinda’s) finally let our hair down and join the dancing on the stage. After sweating for an hour or so on the stage, we continued dancing all the way to the KTV & DISCO indoor, barefooted!
After the exercise on the dancefloor, we went back and I fell asleep instantly.
We had snorkelling session the next day. Our means of transport for the whole time there was this speed boat. The guy who man the boat purposely speed on the crystal clear blue water to splash water on us, all the time! We enjoyed it nonetheless!
Sunblock lotion. Check. Life jacket on. Check. Goggles on. Check. Mouthpiece on. Check
Perfect location. Check.
SPLASH~!!!
Into the water I went
HI!!!
This was my first time snorkelling. My! It was so beautiful under the sea. Colourful coral reef. Colourful fishes. We were given the opportunity to feed the fish with the bread they provided. OUCH! Some blardy fish bite my fingers! It felt like a totally different dimension world under the sea.
The snail picked from under the sea. Its still alive. Maybe we can BBQ it tonight.
Yours truly with the hip hop guy, Albert, from Singapore.
Then it came the moment I had been waiting for!
*drum rolls please*
Swimming in the shark-infested water! I saw a shark only. Maybe it was their napping time. No photos of the shark because my digicam is not waterproof and sharks swim at the bottom of the sea. The thrill and excitement of knowing that you actually swam in the open sea, exposed to all possible risks of being eaten bitten by shark, are what I call the REAL adventure! These are what I love - challenges, danger, risks! I would love to molest touch a shark, live shark. But I think they could sense it when I was in the water and went into hiding, fearing that I would molest harm them.
Time to leave Redang Island
And I am all toasted tanned!!! *bawls* Luckily I applied sunblock lotion before exposing myself going snorkelling. I did not get sunburn at all. Only toasted tanned. Spent almost 2 months staying indoor to get fair skin complexion but only 2 sessions of snorkelling could make me dark beyond recognition!
Belinda, sleeping on my lap (like a puppy) in the ferry
I would say that it was tiring towards the end of the trip but the first time snorkelling experience made me long to come back to the island in the near future. I knew I would love snorkelling and I do. Would love to try scuba-diving.
BYE BYE!!!
**Sorry, guys! No pictures of hot chicks in teeny-weeny bikini. I forgot to bring my swimsuit (left it in university). The timing for hot chicks in bikini to parade the beach was not ngam with mine. Enjoy the pictures ya!
